Theatre District

Theatre District began as a class project for my graduate level Content Strategy course. We were instructed to create a blog about something that we had a fair amount of experience with, something that we would be able to teach to people interested in similar topics. My roommate decided to work on an Alt Rock blog. I decided to create a wealth of information for theatre kids.

My idea for Theatre District centres around active and aspiring theatre kids (TKs) and how they can remain involved in the community, even when they aren’t in school — I want to be able to pass on knowledge and understanding about what to do, where to go, and how to survive doing an art that becomes increasingly more difficult every day.

I am under no illusions that theatre is easy to do. Theatre is probably one of the most stress-inducing and heart-breaking endeavours, with more failures than successes and a feeling of inadequacy that is never fully conquered. Even though it hurts, there are those who keep pushing through the pain and finally reach something beautiful. If that’s you, you’re in the right place. It can be done, I promise. We’ll show you how.
