As the WICKED touring cast is making its way across the country (currently in Costa Mesa, CA), and in honour of Black History Month, I wanted to share this clip of the FIRST black Elphaba — Saycon Sengbloh — who happens to be Liberian, just like me 🙂 In the same vein, Danai Gurira, another fabulous African lady, is working on a show called Eclipsed. The show will feature an all black and female cast including familiar faces like Lupita N’yongo and Saycan Sengbloh and is the story of the Liberian civil war.
